Originally named Survival House 3, Safest Gate was a classic survival map added to the game with the release of v101 Alpha. In v102 Alpha, it was extended. However, it was removed upon the release of the full game.
Map Description
The player(s) start in a large building-like structure with two floors.
On the upper floor there are a gun shop, a Volt Converter for loot, and a Upgrade Bench for upgrading equipment. Also, there are two window-like openings, one on each side, which can be used to leave the building.
On the lower floor there is a ammo shop and two doors with corresponding levers.
Before leaving the building, make sure that at least one door is unlocked, because you cannot re-enter the building through the upper "windows", effectively locking you out of the building. However, if you enter the door below the structure, you can wall jump up, exiting right above the top floor. Then, you can easily return back in through the windows.
On the left side of the map there is a Nano Shower as well as Vending Machines for Stick Grenades and Flashbangs.
On the right side of the map there also is a Nano Shower as well as an entrance to a building in which you can find another Volt Converter, ammo shop and weapons shop.
From the moment the player leaves the house Metalface is attacked by enemies such as birds, Shrooms and Spikebirds. All other enemies are locked behind a wall which first has to be blown up in order to enter the area behind it. To do so, you have to activate a lever being located inside the building on the right side of the map.
Shops
The shop at the spawn building sold the following things :
- Beam Gun
- Blaster Gun
- Grenade
- Phaser
- Shield Belt
- Shield Belt Battery
- Slugger Assault
- Slugger Cobra
- Slugger Pipegun
- Slugger Revolution
- Slugger Revolver
- Spike Bow
The shop in the building at the far right of the map sell the following things :
Secrets
There are secrets hidden around the map (items spawned when the player got close):
- Jumping on top of the house showed a door. Jumping on top of that gave the player a Massive Egg.
- To the right of spawn was a high pillar. Jumping on top of it gave the player a Massive Egg and 2 Cool Eggs.
- Jumping out of the right window and landing on top of the right door gave the player a Power Slice.
- Jumping on top of the spawner for the Sentries gave the player a Striking Gold.
- Going out of the right side of the "canal" on the bottom of the map and jumping on top of the exit gave the player another Power Slice.
- Jumping on top of the "house" with the 3 burners gave the player 2 Slender Eggs.
- Jumping between the 2nd and 3rd burner in the same house gave the player a Heavy Duty Fan.
- At the door of the building to the right, if the player punched or shot the floor, there was a secret room with 3 Circuits inside.
- Jumping on the right building's entrance gave the player a Royal Shell as well as a button, which, when pressed, detonated rocks above the Sentry in front of the house, killing it.
- Jumping on top of the point where the rocks get blown up (using Jet Shoes or a fully upgraded Phaser) gave the player a Super Logic Chip and an Obelisk Inductor. There was also a Telebooth Cell for robots.
- Going under the house to the "canal", there is a Spikebird nest. Just walk a bit left and jump to get an Ecstatic Mushroom.
- On the left is a house with a burner. Go under the burner and go right to get a Spiked Mine and an Advanced Memory Module.
- Jumping on top of the left building with the shops gave the player an Epic Circuit.
- Going to the far left and climbing the wall up where the Telebooth Cell was gave the player a Strange Artifact.
- In the right base, jumping up the left wall in the room with the thruster in it revealed a secret room. Destroying the left wall inside it gave the player a Thermal Bomb.
- In the right base on the left side, jumping up to the place where the robots spawn at gave the player a Double Ammo Box, a Power Slice and a Massive Egg.

Trivia
- Safest Gate was not included in the v100 Alpha version of Cobalt. It originally was a custom map created by Kinten (an Oxeye Games developer) and uploaded to the Cobalt Forum, due to the fact that "...the autoupdater is a bit bugged out at the moment [and] I'll (Kinten) have to post my maps [on the forum]." It was removed upon the full release of the game, but the original map can be downloaded from the Steam Workshop.
- As of v102 Alpha, the left door of the spawn-building is not lockable anymore. The lever is still existent, but it has no effect.
