Volts are the currency used in Cobalt's Survival, Story Mode and Team Strike game modes, as well as Cobalt WASD.

Volts were used in the removed Bounty game mode.

They are used to:

Obtainment

In Waves Survival, each player may receive a certain amount of Volts at the beginning of the round and when respawning. Volts also can be obtained by selling weapons to shops, or collecting pickups from slain enemies. Pickups are automatically converted to volts.

In Classic Survival, volts are obtained by collecting pickups and converting them at a Volt Converter.

In Story Mode, volts are obtained by collecting pickups that automatically convert to volts, much like Waves Survival.

In Team Strike, players can earn volts based on winning a round (+200 volts), losing a round (+125 volts) and drawing with the other team (+75 volts).

In the Bounty gamemode, in maps such as Safest Gate, Volts could be collected instantly (without having to venture back to the Volt Converter) by finding volt-pickups.

In Cobalt WASD, Volts are obtained much like in Team Strike, as well as with kills.

Values

Different types of Loot have different values, which means that you will get more or less Volts for them when cashing in.
Here is a list of pickups in Cobalt and their values:
